About Tuaspring

Tuaspring Integrated Water and Power Project Tuaspring is Asia’s first Integrated Water and Power Project, with a desalination capacity of 70 million gallons or 318,500m3 per day, and a 411 megawatt capacity combined cycle gas turbine power plant. Both plants work in tandem to provide an innovative solution to Singapore’s water and energy needs.
While the power plant supplies electricity to the desalination plant, heat generated from the power generation process warms feed water supplied to the desalination plant, thus reducing the osmotic pressure required for the reverse osmosis phase and the overall energy consumption and costs. Compared to a simple cycle plant, a combined cycle plant has a higher efficiency of approximately 60% due to the heat recovery process. Tuaspring was awarded Distinction in the Desalination Plant of the Year category in the Global Water Awards 2014.
